Epipremnum aureum 'Marble Queen'

Epipremnum aureum 'Marble Queen' is a variegated pothos with glossy heart-shaped leaves washed, flecked, and streaked in cream-white and green. Each leaf carries its own balance of pale and green tissue, giving the vine a light, marbled appearance while keeping the node-based vining growth of Epipremnum aureum.

The plant grows from long stems with nodes and aerial roots. In a pot it can trail over the rim, climb a support, or be pruned into a fuller shape. Because many leaves carry a high proportion of pale tissue, 'Marble Queen' usually grows at a measured pace and needs bright indirect light, airy substrate, and consistent warmth.

As a selection of Epipremnum aureum, it belongs to a wet-tropical climbing species from Mo‘orea in the Society Islands, where aerial roots help the stems attach and climb through humid forest.

Pale marbling and vine habits

  • Cream-white and green marbling across glossy juvenile leaves.
  • Flexible vines that can hang, climb, or be cut back for denser growth.
  • Aerial roots at the nodes for support attachment and easy propagation.
  • Light-coloured foliage needs bright indirect light that avoids scorch.
  • Node-based stems with aerial roots for trailing, climbing and propagation.

How the marbled leaves develop indoors

'Marble Queen' has pale marbling across green leaf tissue, and the green sections remain important for growth. Leaves with very large cream sections can age or mark sooner when exposed to strong sun, dry heat, or salt build-up. With healthy roots and soft bright light, new leaves expand cleanly and pale sections mark less easily.

Like the species, this cultivar stays juvenile indoors under normal pot culture. Leaves remain heart-shaped and comparatively modest in size unless the plant receives long-term support, warmth, and climbing conditions. Regular pruning keeps long vines from becoming bare and allows rooted cuttings to be placed back into the pot for a fuller plant.

Care for cream-white pothos foliage

  • Light: Give bright indirect light. Soft bright light reduces stretching while avoiding scorch on the pale parts of the leaf.
  • Water: Water when the upper 25–35% of the mix has dried. Check deeper in the pot before watering, as pale variegated vines can use water more slowly.
  • Substrate: Use a chunky aroid mix with bark, perlite, coco chips, or pumice. Dense wet soil increases the risk of root decline.
  • Temperature: Keep between 18–27 °C. Warm, stable conditions help the plant maintain root activity and new leaf production.
  • Humidity: Moderate indoor humidity is acceptable. Higher humidity helps new leaves unfurl with fewer dry marks, especially on long vines.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly in spring and summer. Avoid heavy fertiliser doses, which can leave salt residue around the roots and mark pale leaf edges.
  • Pruning: Cut stretched or mostly green stems above a node. Root the cuttings to thicken the plant or renew older vines.

Stress marks on pale leaves

  • Brown tips on cream areas: Check sun exposure, dry heat, salt build-up, and irregular watering. Pale tissue usually shows stress first.
  • New leaves with less marbling: Review light levels and prune greener stems if they begin to dominate the pot.
  • Yellow leaves with wet mix: Let the root zone dry further before watering and check whether the potting mix drains freely.
  • Small leaves on long vines: Add more bright indirect light or provide support so the stems can grow with better structure.
  • Spotted or distorted new leaves: Inspect the newest growth for thrips, mites, or mechanical damage while the leaves are still rolled.

Safety for pets, children, and pruning

Epipremnum aureum 'Marble Queen' contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. Chewed foliage can cause irritation, and cut stems may bother sensitive skin, so place the plant thoughtfully and wash hands after pruning.

Meaning of the botanical name

Epipremnum refers to the climbing habit of the genus, from Greek roots meaning “upon” and “trunk.” Aureum means “golden.”

OBSESSED - My New Go-To SPF ✨
Color: Glow
I don’t say this lightly - I’m OBSESSED. The Colorescience Glow SPF is hands down the best sunscreen I’ve ever used. This formula makes my skin look unreal - plumped, radiant, and healthy from morning to night. It gives that lit-from-within glow without ever looking greasy or heavy. I’m super sensitive to sunscreens (most of them irritate my skin and eyes), but this one is perfection. No reactions, no discomfort- just smooth, glowing skin all day. I also ordered the Flex and can’t wait to try it next. This is officially my forever SPF

Best Sunblock ever!!
Color: Bronze
I kept seeing this all over my social media, so I decided to do some research before purchasing. I was pleased at how high the reviews were. I decided to purchase and I’m totally obsessed! I’ve been using for a few months now and I don’t even wear any foundation anymore. This has literally replaced it. I love how it glides on like butter, and how It’s so smooth and light. I get so many compliments on my face. Best sunblock ever!! I’m forever a customer! Highly recommended!!

Bronze and Matte are brown girl friendly
Color: Bronze, Color: Bronze
TLDR: I got bronze and matte formulas and I have oily skin. I’m very happy with these. Bronze is a perfect match until it oxidizes so I mix it with medium for the perfect shade. Bronze will be flexible across a wide range of skin tones. Matte formula is perfect on its own, more like a satin matte finish. I think matte has less pigment than bronze. Both are easy to apply and reapply, blends nicely, zero white cast- no Casper. What I liked: I really like the finish on these. I have oily skin and these work well for me. They don’t burn my eyes. Bronze gives a little glow while matte tones down the shine but it’s not too matte, more like satin matte. I can wear matte on its own but I have to mix bronze with medium because it oxidizes after a few minutes. These are both great options for daily wear. What could be better: I wouldn’t change anything about the matte formula. But it can get thick after several reapplications. I wish the bronze formula didn’t oxidize. While it doesn’t oxidize every time, you just never know when it will. But mixing it with medium helps to keep it chill. Skin tone: For reference, I usually have to mix shades to get my perfect match. But my skin tone tans very easily and is lighter in winter, darker in summer. So I mix medium with bronze or tan. Some of my foundation colors if it helps you: Armani 7.8, Hourglass 11, EL DW 4N2, MUFE 3N42, NARS Aruba, Dior 4N, Haus Labs 330. Would I recommend: Yes! This is best for brown girls who want a tinted sunscreen without a white cast. And it’s even for lighter people who want to bronze up their skin. About my photos/video: Photos show me wearing each formula as well as swatches. Hope this helps!

Definitely Recommend
Color: Glow, Color: Glow
I love the GLOW of this product and that you get some SPF protection. I have used it for years and put on with a serum to even it out and a blending sponge. I would definitely recommend and have bought it as a gift for my sisters

Perfection! Not for very pale skin, unless it’s contour..
Color: Bronze, Color: Bronze
I only deducted a star because it was not perfect for “all skin tones”. I am very pale with cool pink undertone. Where it does give me “healthy color” without being orange (after waiting 15-20 minutes for the color to settle.), which is something I have never had before with a bronzer. I’m impressed. But… as you can see I the photo, you can clearly see where the spf ends and my shoulders begin. I prefer something more subtle so if I decide to take change my top or if my strap moves you don’t see the stark alabaster skin line. That said, if I was going to be fastidious about where my close rest on me, this would be wonderful. Ok now the pros: Goes on like a dream. Unscented, but the smell of the ingredients is subtle (maybe some Shea butter scent? It’s so light I can’t place it) and goes away after about 20 minutes. I have very dry, extremely sensitive skin. I mean… VERY sensitive. This feels like a high end thicker moisturizing cream/balm, but had zero stickiness or oily feeling. When I first saw the deep brown bronze color in the drops j put on my fingertips and then the orangy tint as I first put it on I started to panic. Thankfully it blended in quite well. I have NEVER had a bronzer look natural or not orange on me. So the product base is exquisite. I have bought over 27 face sunscreen products this year trying to find anything my skin would play nice with and my skin actually LOVES this. I further I have it on and I hugged my nesting partner who was wearing a light t-shirt and there was no transfer or oily blotches on his shirt as I have had with most others. I used the original version of this that has a neutral beige tint, the formulas feel identical, though I have not checked the ingredients. What is important here is it layers beautifully! I had the bronze on and because 2 hours had gone by I put the original over it and wow, I love the effect! I still can’t feel it on and it hasn’t pilled or left creases of product on my neck (unlike Elta MD Clear’s 2nd and 3rd 2hour reapplication layers.) Here is what I am squealing with excitement about. Not only does my skin adore this product feel and formulation, but it layers! I am going to try to contour myself with the bronze. Use the Original first, and add contours under my jaw, where blush would go and my temples, blending before the product dries. Because of the way the bronze didn’t shift when I applied the original on top, it is likely that when I apply the other layers of just the original every 2 hours, it should still look beautiful. I WILL be experimenting with how this works and how well it holds up to being outside, then update you here. (Currently I am outside less than an hour, but have enough windows o still get sun burned and sun angry red skin within 2 hours inside my home. So I still want to check for outside direct sunlight efficacy too.) (Before this I was using SuperGoop Unseen Sunscreen, but my face still got red/irritated and EltaMD UV Clear, which had less redness/irritation, but was still causing me mild redness. Everything else was either tacky, oily or had an unacceptably white cast. The closest to 3rd runner up was the “No more foundation” it’s cosmetics moisturizing spf cream. It moisturized with zero skin irritation and had fantastic spf, but I did look like I had a plastic mask which is jot my thing. It appears I have the best of what I adored about “No more foundation” and a clear or unnoticeable tinted spf that looks plausibly natural!)
